bali
Bali is one of those countries that has a mystical air about it. Before you go you have all kinds of images floating in your head of what such an exotic country could be like. Once you get there you soon find that it's all true, kind of. Progress, or what we in North America mistakenly think is progress, has made it's mark on Bali. Denpasar is a huge, noisy, sooty city. Beyond that you see the warm faces of some of the most friendly people you will find anywhere on the earth.
Bali is a small Hindu island situated in the middle of the largest Muslim country in the world. The ancient Hindu temples are a treasure not to be missed. The surrounding countryside is dotted with small towns, each of which has it's own industry. One town might be the wooden eagle carving center while another made batik table cloths.
You want to spend as little time in the major centers as possible. Photographically Bali has a lot to offer and as I get through my archives I will add more photographs taken there. A photo tour lead by me should be in the near future. Contact me if your interested.
